METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING VESTIGIAL SIDEBAND DIGITAL TELEVISION SIGNAL HAVING CARRIER FREQUENCY NEAR TO NTSC CO-CHANNEL AUDIO CARRIER FREQUENCY

PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a vestigial sideband digital television signal having a carrier frequency near to NTSC co-channel audio carrier frequency is provided to transmit a television signal including a suppressed carrier, pilot signal, vestigial sideband near to a high frequency of a television broadcasting channel and entire sideband near to a low frequency of the channel. CONSTITUTION: An N-level digital coding signal of the symbol rate(fs) corresponding three times of NTSC chrominance subcarrier frequency is provided. A carrier signal having a nominal frequency that is offset from a co-channel NTSC audio carrier frequency according to a frequency based on NTSC horizontal scanning rate is generated. The amplitude of the carrier signal is modulated in order to generate the first and second amplitude-modulated sidebands. A transmission signal is formed in response to the amplitude-modulated sidebands.
