PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicarrier demodulating method and a multicarrier demodulator that can suppress the effect of back-off of an amplifier or the like at a transmitter side. SOLUTION: The multicarrier demodulator 1000 receives and demodulates an OFDM modulation signal comprising N subcarriers including L effective carriers. The multicarrier demodulator uses M sample points of the signal whose amplitude is not a threshold value or more of N sample points to demodulate the signal at the M sample points by using a complex linear arithmetic operation. That is, a matrix comprising M-rows and L-columns the q-row and p-column element of which is expressed as exp(2πjkp nq /N) is calculated on the basis of a sample number nq } of the M sample points and a carrier number kp } of the L effective carrier and then a generalized inverse matrix (consisting of L-rows and M-columns) is calculated. A complex linear arithmetic unit 111 receives M digital signals IR, QR configuring M complex numbers corresponding to the sample number nq } of the M sample points from a memory 107 to multiply the generalized inverse matrix (consisting of L-rows and M-columns) calculated by a complex inverse matrix arithmetic unit 110 with the M digital signals IR, QR.
