PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing drive device for detecting that a slide door is halted in an ajar state when the slide door is closed by manual operation and automatically moving the slide door to a completely closed location. SOLUTION: The drive device for opening and closing the slide door is provided with the slide door movably provided for a rail in a side surface of a vehicle body and connected to a drawing member, a take-up drum driven in both forward and backward directions by a motor via a bidirectional rotary clutch and connected to one end of the drawing member, and an operating switch for controlling the ON and OFF of the motor, automatically opens and closes the slide door by driving the take-up drum by the motor when the operating switch is in an ON state, and opens and closes the slide door by manual operation when the operating switch is in an OFF state. The vehicle body is provided with sensors for detecting a complete open location of the slide door, a location for detecting that nothing is caught, and a complete closed location. When the operating switch is in the OFF state and the closing is performed by manual operation, the halting of the slide door halfway to the complete closed location after passing the location for detecting that nothing is caught is detected to drive the motor and automatically move the slide door to the complete closed location. |
