MPEG DATA RECORDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method for realizing a seamless and high- quality reproduction without inconsistency in overflow or underflow in VBV buffer connection when the first MPEG image data is joined to the second MPEG image data in reproduction. SOLUTION: Data of a joining section (A) of a first MPEG image data is decoded and re-encoded. In the re-encoding process, a transition of a VBV buffer duty value is so controlled and implemented that the transition starts from one at a position of (a) and finishes until the VBV buffer duty value at a position of (d). The first MPEG image data is reproduced up to the position (a) of the first MPEG image data, a re-encoded MPEG image data of the joining section (A) is reproduced, then the process is joined to the position (d) of the second MPEG image data, and the second MPEG image data is reproduced from the position of (d).
