REVERSE PROXY NETWORK COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF ACCESSING INTERNAL NETWORK DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow communication between a network device on a protected network and an external network device outside the protected network, without changing the structure, functions of a firewall/proxy server or network security policy. SOLUTION: Communication among the network devices on the protected network and the external network device outside the protected network is enabled by using 'reverse proxying'. A proxy server receives incoming data, playacting as a protected network device. The data is retrieved by a proxy agent to periodically poll the proxy server to check whether or not the data awaits retrieval.
