PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pile head structure of a foundation pillar and a method of constructing the pile head of the foundation pillar capable of increasing the workability for installation of reinforcements in pile head portions and also reinforcing the transmission of stress between a steel pipe pile and a structure. SOLUTION: A short pile head body 1 formed of a tubular body generally identical to the steel pipe pile 5 is formed separately from the steel pipe pile 5, and a mounting member 2 for reinforcements is fixed to the outer peripheral part of the pile head body 1. The pile head body 1 is welded to the upper end part of the steel pipe pile 5, and the reinforcements 3 are installed through the mounting member 2. The reinforcements 3 may be directly welded without using the mounting member 2 on the outer peripheral part of the pile head body 1. In addition, if the wall thickness of the pile head body 1 is set thicker than that of the steel pipe pile 5, larger diameter reinforcements can be used.
