SOLUTION: This positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery contains a Li-Mn-Ni compound oxide and is characterized in that the total fine pore volume of the Li-Mn-Ni compound oxide is 0.0015 ml/g or more. This manufacturing method of the positive electrode active material for the lithium secondary battery containing the Li-Mn-Ni compound oxide is characterized by manufacturing the Li-Mn-Ni compound oxide through a precursor forming process for providing the Li-Mn-Ni compound oxide by atomizing and drying Li-Mn-Ni slurry and through a firing process for firing the Li-Mn-Ni compound oxide precursor.
