SOLUTION: The optical burst transmission system is provided with an optical routing section 107 that extracts a couple of light beams among a set of light beams comprising a plurality of first kind light beams with different wavelengths and a plurality of second kind light beams with wavelengths apart from the wavelengths of the first kind light beams by an FSR(Free Spectral Range) in pairs with each other and routes the couple to a transmission path in cross-reference with the wavelength of the first kind light beams included in the extracted couple, a light generating section 103 and an optical modulation section 104 that generate the first kind light beams with wavelengths different by each transmission path, subjected to intensity modulation on the basis of the acquired data, a wide spectral light generating section 105 that uses a light source comprising light emitting elements whose number is smaller than the number of the first kind light beams, generates third kind light beams subjected to intensity modulation on the basis of a clock signal and includes the respective wavelengths of the second kind light beams in pairs with the first kind light beams, and a composite section 106 that composites the first kind light beams with the third kind light beams and outputs the composited light to the transmission path.
