PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal-orienting agent that has excellent printability without occurrence of uneven printing and pinholes, when print-coated on a substrate and provide a liquid crystal display element equipped with a liquid crystal orientation film obtained from the liquid crystal orientation agent. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal orientation agent comprises (A) a polymer bearing at least one of recurring units selected from an amic acid structure and an imide structure, preferably a polyamic acid and an imide polymer and (B) a silicon-including compound having polyether bonds.
