PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input event generating method for enabling a user to easily and accurately select a small object on a display screen and an information terminal equipped with the method. SOLUTION: This method for generating an input event in a picture display system is provided with a display device and a pointing device for pointing an image displayed on the display screen of the display device with a pointer. The method comprises a step for displaying an enlarged display window for enlarging and displaying the prescribed region of the display picture in response to a processing start action in displaying a picture and a step for, when the operation of the pointing device is detected at a first coordinate position on the enlarged display window, generating an input event corresponding to the pointing device operation at a second coordinate position corresponding to the first coordinate position in the prescribed region.
