<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure an effective combusting function of a particulate filter for a vehicle by reducing temperature difference between the central part and the outer periphery of the filter. SOLUTION: A filter unit 40 is disposed in a casing 1 while its both ends are held by a first inner shell 11 extending from a front end plate 3 and a second inner shell 21 extending from a partition 30. Exhaust gas from an inlet pipe 5 penetrating through the front end plate 3 passes through the filter, comes into a clearance D between an outer shell 2 and the filter unit 40 from a number of small holes 23 in the second inner shell, flows toward the front end plate, and is discharged from an outlet pipe 6. The filter unit heated by exhaust gas is further heated by exhaust gas flowing forward through the clearance D, so that heat radiation from the outer periphery is prevented, the entire filter is kept at high temperature, and soot or the like collected by the filter is certainly combusted.</p> |
