PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently record and display character information indicating the contents of audio data when mainly recording the audio data such as a music source. SOLUTION: The audio data are disposed in A packs and the character information and display time data about the audio data are disposed in A-CONT packs. A display time decoder 51 separates the display time data in the A-CONT packs into display start time data and display finish time data and applies them to a start comparator 52 and an end comparator 53. A character data decoder 54 converts the character data into dot matrix character data for a display and stores them into a buffer 55. The start comparator 52 and the end comparator 53 compare the data of the display start time and the display finish time with A pack addresses to control the display time of the characters.
