PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel structure allowing a construction period to be shortened and capable of providing an excellent economic efficiency, and a method of constructing the tunnel structure. SOLUTION: This tunnel structure comprises an arch part 5 formed at a bottom part and steel supports 7 and 8 formed integrally with the arch part 5 on the inner peripheral side of the arch part 5 to be formed in a ring shape. The outer sides of the supports 7 and 8 are heaped up in the arch shape with improvement soil 11. The method of constructing the tunnel structure comprises a step for forming the arch-shaped bottom part, a step for forming the steel ring-shaped supports on the inner peripheral side of the arch-shaped bottom part, and a step for heaping up the outer side of the ring-shaped supports in arch shape with the improvement soil.
