PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing inorganic components which may cause defects (for example, minute flaw, white point, etc.), due to decomposition when a polymer is subjected to steaming (sterilization) or the like, especially alkaline components, from the polymer, and to provide a low defect polymer. SOLUTION: The treating method for an alkaline impurity-containing polymer solution in an organic solvent comprises homogeneously acidifying the organic phase by using an acidic compound which dissolves in the organic phase.
