PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil-like article lifting and transporting machine capable of providing an excellent workability, coping with an increase in speed, saving labor, coping with atomization, facilitating maintenance. SOLUTION: A traveling vehicle 4 having a chain drive device 10 mounted thereon is disposed so as to run on a rail 3 installed at an elevated position in a plant, and a columnar mast 20 is installed on the traveling vehicle so as to be lifted by a linear guide 21. A roller chain 17 driven by the chain drive device 10 is wound on a running block 23 rotatably installed on the upper end part of the columnar mast to lift the columnar mast by the driving of the chain drive device. A generally channel-shaped coil suspending device 26 is fixedly installed on the lower end part of the columnar mast.
