PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both an ink for ink jet recording capable of forming an image having a good hue and good light resistance and a method for recording the image. SOLUTION: This ink for ink jet recording comprises a compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein, Ar denotes an aryl group or the like; R<1> denotes hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, nitrile, hydroxy group, nitro group, carboxy group, sulfo group, a quaternary ammonium group, CO2 M1/n , SO3 M1/n , an alkyl group, an aryl group or the like; M denotes a metal atom; n denotes an integer of 1-4; R<2> to R<4> denote each hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkylcarbonyl group, an arylcarbonyl group, an alkylsulfonyl group, an arylsulfonyl group or the like; X denotes N-R<5> , oxygen atom or sulfur atom; R<5> denotes hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or the like; Y denotes C-R<6> or nitrogen atom; and R<6> is the same as that defined by R<1> ). The method for recording the image comprises using the ink for the ink jet recording. |
