PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for producing an acid anhydride having high purity in high yield under mild reaction conditions while suppressing the consumption of a t-amine such as triethylamine. SOLUTION: An acid anhydride such as acrylic anhydride and methacrylic anhydride is produced by reacting a carboxylic acid such as acrylic acid and methacrylic acid with a sulfonyl halide compound such as benzenesulfonyl chloride and p-toluenesulfonyl chloride in the presence of a t-amine such as triethylamine and an inorganic base such as sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate.
