PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor with which a color image can be outputted while reducing respective information quantities by methods suitable for respective color components without deteriorating the quality of a color image, and an image recorder for recording the image on the basis of received image data without deteriorating the picture quality. SOLUTION: In the image processor, quantizing processing is applied to a color for which a gradation is regarded important (L, C and LM) in color image data to be transmitted to the image recorder (using six colors of Y, M, C, Bk, LC and LM, for example), with a great number of gradations (nine values, for example), and compressing processing is not applied thereto. Besides, quantizing processing is applied to colors (Y, M, C and Bk) for which the gradation is not regarded important with a number of gradations (five values, for example), having high compression efficiency and afterwards, a transmitting data amount is reduced by applying compressing processing. In the image recorder, the image is recorded while keeping non-compressed data as they are or after extending processing is performed to compressed data in the received image data. |
