PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin whitening agent which contains a Cortinellus shiitake mycelium extract and utilizes a skin whitening action of the Cortinellus shiitake mycelium extract. SOLUTION: This skin whitening agent contains the Cortinellus shiitake mycelium extract. The Cortinellus shiitake mycelium extract is obtained by inoculating Cortinellus shiitake mycelia in a solid culture medium containing bagasse as a main material, proliferating the mycelia, untying the obtained mycelium-containing solid culture medium, adding water and at least one enzyme selected from cellulase, glucosidase, and protease at 30 to 50 deg.C, crushing and mashing the solid culture medium in the presence of the added enzyme to extract L.E.M, and then heating the L.E.M at a temperature up to 95 deg.C to inactivate and sterilize the enzyme. The skin whitening agent may be used even in any of forms for an external application and internal application, is effective for maintaining the beauty and health of skins, does not produce a side effect, and is therefore excellent from the aspect of safety. |
