PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric cooling power lead for efficiently carrying out heat radiation and cooling by itself to make special cooling means unnecessary, in a power lead for electrically connecting a superconducting coil with a power supply (a first power supply) which drives the superconducting coil. SOLUTION: A thermoelectric cooling element, consists of an N-type thermoelectric material connected to the positive electrode of the power supply, and a P-type thermoelectric material connected to the negative electrode of the power supply. A high- temperature superconductor may be provided between this thermoelectric cooling element and the superconducting coil. Pairs of the N-type thermoelectric material and the P-type thermoelectric material of a plurality of thermoelectric cooling elements are connected in common on the superconducting coil side, and are connected to the superconducting coil. On the opposite side thereof, the first power supply and/or a second power supply are/is connected respectively via a switch group. When the superconducting coil is excited, the P-type and N-type thermoelectric materials are connected, in parallel with each other to supply a current from at least the first power supply to the superconducting coil, and in the other case, the connection state of the switch group is switched to connect the plurality of thermoelectric elements in series, to decrease the current value of the second power supply. |
