PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation in access performance by intensively managing management information in any structure and to make access from a host to a disk storage device possible, without stopping the operation of a storage device system, even in the case of changing the structure of the storage device system in the storage device system, the structure of which can easily be changed. SOLUTION: When the number of storage controllers 3 for constituting the storage device system 2 is changed from one to plural units or changed from plural units to a single unit, a management information memory controller 323 in the storage controller copies the management information between the storage controller 3 and a management information memory switch 6 by a management information copy processing 346, simultaneously with processing of access requests from a channel interface 31 and a disk interface 35, and changes the storage position of the management information, while processing read/write requests from the host.
