PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline dry cell of superior reliability, without causing liquid leakage due to stress cracks of a sealing member. SOLUTION: For the alkaline dry cell comprising a resin-made sealing member for sealing an open area of a cell case, which has a central cylindrical part holding a negative collector bonded to a negative terminal plate, a peripheral cylindrical part interposing between the open end of the cell case and the terminal plate, and a thin wall part acting as a safety valve, where the open end of the cell case is bent so as to cover an upper end of the peripheral cylindrical part of the sealing member, and the bent portion is caulked inside to fasten a peripheral edge part of the terminal plate, the peripheral cylindrical part of the sealing member is divided into a portion receiving the lower surface of the peripheral edge part of the terminal plate and a portion pressing the upper surface of the peripheral edge part of the terminal plate.
