PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately compensate for arch-shape image distortion on a projection screen and the color gap accompanying with this, even if compensation circuits for horizontal deflection and for vertical deflection are not prepared for each cathode-ray tubes for each colors individually. SOLUTION: As the cathode-ray tube for projection type display, a cathode- ray tube is used which is provided with a deflecting yoke, having a pair of horizontal deflection coils, which form the main horizontal deflection magnetic field, and a pair of vertical deflection coils 13 and 13, which form the main vertical deflection magnetic field, a pair of sub coils 15 and 15, which form the sub horizontal deflection magnetic field at the back end side of the deflecting yoke, and a vertical deflection circuit, which has a diode bridge circuit 22 rectifying a part of vertical deflection current Iv and supplies it to the pair of sub coils 15 and 15, while supplying the vertical deflection current Iv to the pair of vertical deflection coils 13 and 13.
