PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method with which an equilibrium peracetic acid which is not the dangerous materials defined by the fire protection law can be surely obtained in a high peracetic acid concentration in a state. SOLUTION: An initial mixed solution has an acetic acid concentration of >=16 pts.wt. and a hydrogen peroxide concentration of >=11.5 wt.% directly after the preparation, and the total amount of acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide per 100 g of the initial mixed solution directly after the preparation of <1.18 mol. The initial mixed solution is prepared by mixing glacial acetic acid or an aqueous solution of acetic acid, and an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide, and further by adding water if necessary. Subsequently, the initial mixed solution is allowed to stand to obtain an equilibrium peracetic acid aqueous solution containing peracetic acid, acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide.
