<p>A method of communicating video or image data includes generating a sequence of video or image frames, including intra-coded frames interspersed by predicted frames of a video or image stream (690), including a first intra-cded frame. The method includes transcoding at least one intra-coded frame subsequent to the first intra-coded frame into at least one predicted intra-coded frame, thereby forming a modified sequence of video or image frames, wherein the at least one predicted intra-coded frrame is predicted from siad first intra-coded frame; and communicting said modified dwquence f vide or image frames, including the predicted intra-coded frame in place of the intra-coded frame from which it was transcoded. Fewer intra-coded frames can be sent over e.g. an IP network, savidng bandwidth usage, with minimal loss of quality of the video signal.</p> |
