[Also in Group XXXIII] An offshore platform for handling fluid from an oil and/or gas-filled in a water-covered area comprises a floating hull 12 and a float 27 connected (via lines 30, 31 depending from hoists 32, 33) to the platform and carrying the ends of flexible flowlines 23. The hull has a vertical opening 13 therethrough and is anchored by lines 41, 42. The upper end of each flowline 23 is secured by a flexible device 25 to the float 27 and is connected by releasable means (e.g. a pull-out pipe connector 22) to a pipe 20 extending from a manifold 17 on the working platform 14. The lower ends of the lines 30, 31 are connected to an anchor 40. In case of a storm the pipe connectors 22 are disconnected and the hoists 32, 33 set in motion to lower the anchor 40 and float 27. When the anchor reaches the ocean floor (Fig. 2) the lines 30, 31 are disconnected between the float 27 and the platform or are dropped from the hoists 32, 33.
