The invention relates to plastic working of metals and alloys, in particular to plastic working of hypereutectoid alloys based on titanium aluminides gamma -TiAl (superstructure Ll>0<- gamma phase) and Ti>3<Al (superstructure DO>19<- alpha >2< phase) produced by casting. Said invention can be used for industrially producing billets, semifinished products and articles made of said materials having a specified structure. The inventive method for said alloys consists in heating and deforming a billet, the deformation of a billet being carried out in two stages. In the first stage, the deformation is carried out within a range of T>e< DIVIDED T>e + < DELTA T DEG C, where T>e <is a> <temperature of eutectoid transformation, DELTA T being selected according to a condition of maintaining the globular constituent of the structure obtained as result of deformation during post-deformation cooling. The deformation rate epsilon '>1< and the degree of strain epsilon >1< are selected in such a way that they reduce the mean dimension of grains/colonies in the billet. In the second stage, the deformation of a billet is carried out under isothermal conditions within a temperature range of T>min< DIVIDED T>e < DEG C, where T>min< is a maximum temperature ensuring non-destructive deformation at the degree of strain epsilon >2< and the deformation rate epsilon >2< which are> <selected> <according to a condition of refining the grain dimension gamma and alpha >2< particles. |
