Azo pigments, based on N-substituted 6-(2'-hydroxy-3'-naphthoylamino)quinazolin-2,4-dione couplers, are new. Azo pigments of formula (I), based on N-substituted 6-(2'-hydroxy-3'-naphthoylamino)quinazolin-2,4-dione couplers, are new. D = residue of a diazo component; R<1> and R<2> = H, 1-4C alkyl (optionally substituted by OH, halogen, amino or MeO) or 6-10C aryl (optionally once to three times substituted by 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, F, Cl, Br, CF3, NO2, OH, CONH2, CONH(1-4C alkyl), CON(1-4C alkyl)2, COO(1-4C alkyl), SO2NH2, SO2NH(1-4C alkyl) or SO2N(1-4C alkyl)2, with the proviso that both are not H at the same time; R<3> = H, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, halogen, CF3, NO2 or CN; and n = 1, 2 or 3. Independent claims are included for: (i) the novel N-substituted 6-(2'-hydroxy-3'-naphthoylamino)quinazolin-2,4-diones used as couplers in the preparation of (I) and being of formula (II); and (ii) preparation of (I) by coupling an amine of formula DNH2 with the novel couplers. |
