<p>A video signal judgment apparatus for reliably detecting a film video signal. A difference is calculated between a color difference signal B-Y delayed by one field and output from a 1-field delay circuit (3) by a subtractor (5) and a color difference signal B-Y before being delayed. In case of a signal of 4 : 2 : 0 format, color difference signals at positions corresponding to respective fields constituting a frame have an identical value. An output of the subtractor (5) is 0 when the input is a signal of the field of a corresponding frame and is not 0 when the input is a signal of a field of a different frame. An adder (6) adds the output of the subtractor (5) by one field. A comparator (7) outputs 1 when the added value is greater than a reference value and 0 when the added value is smaller than the reference value. A controller (8) decides whether the input signal is a film video signal according to the pattern of 1 and 0 output from the comparator (7). The present invention can be applied to a DVD player.</p> |
