Use of: (a) tissue inhibitor of metalloprotease-1 (TIMP-1); (b) TIMP-1 analogs; (c) fragments of (a) and (b) with immunosuppressive activity; or (d) nucleic acid encoding (a)-(d), for treating diseases or disorders characterized by increased immunological activity, is new. An Independent claim is also included for a rinse solution for transplants containing any of (a)-(d) in a pharmaceutical carrier.
