The present invention provides methods to determine the physiological relationship of different cytokines in humans by administering a therapeutic regimen of a cytokine, or an anti-cytokine, or a combination of a cytokine and an anti-cytokine, and measuring changes in concentrations of other cytokines. The present invention further provides methods to modulate the concentration of a target cytokine by administering a therapeutic regimen of a different cytokine, or an anti-cytokine, or a combination of a different cytokine and an anti-cytokine, and measuring changes in concentrations of other cytokines.
