Metallic solution-diffusion membrane consists of a macroporous base body with a thin metallic membrane layer (3). The base body consists of a hollow fiber (1). An intermediate layer (2) is formed between the hollow fiber and the membrane layer. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the membrane comprising preparing one or more macroporous hollow fibers, applying a homogeneous intermediate layer onto the hollow fibers, passivating the intermediate layer, and applying the thin metallic membrane layer by currentless deposition.
