The roll-over bar has a bar fitting which is at least partly hollow and has fixing brackets at its free ends for attachment to the vehicle structure and also has a deformation element fixed to it. The deformation element (19) is covered in foam (21a). The foam also encases at least sectors of the bar fitting, which is thus attached to the deformation element by this means.
