PURPOSE: An STM(Synchronous Transfer Mode)-4C subscriber matching device and method is provided to identify subscribers using a VPI/VCI(Virtual Path Identifier/Virtual Channel Identifier) included in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) cell header of an STM-4C frame in a physical layer processing board and embody an STM-4C transmission speed. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of output cell buffer units(24) temporarily store an ATM cell and transmit the stored ATM cell so that ATM cell information is not damaged. A subscriber identifying unit(23) identifies a subscriber number corresponding to a VPI/VCI value of an ATM cell header, and designates a subscriber number for outputting the ATM cell. An ATM cell processing unit(22) transmits the VPI/VCI value of the ATM cell header mounted on a payload of an STM-4C frame to the subscriber identifying unit(23), and outputs the ATM cell to the output cell buffer unit(24) corresponding to the subscriber number designated by the subscriber identifying unit(23). An STM-4C processing unit(21) transmits the STM-4C frame transmitted from the ATM cell processing unit(22) to a remote station.
