Improvements in or relating to devices for the continuous production of insulating tubing

Apparatus for the continuous production of insulating tubing comprising a tubular core of textile or glass fibres and a plurality of dressings of synthetic resins, silicon resins, silicon rubber or the like, comprises, a reel for accommodating the tubular core, a base plate, a plurality of supporting frames mounted on the base plate in a parallel and spaced relation to one another, upper and lower guiding means mounted respectively at the top and bottom of the supporting frames, heating devices located between said upper and lower guiding means, tanks for the dressing agent located at the lower guiding means, a device for receiving the finished insulating tubing and a means for drawing the tubular core through the apparatus. In the arrangement shown a tubular core is fed from a reel 2 and is guided by rollers 4 through a series of tanks 6 containing the dressing agent, with heating devices 7 arranged after each tank 6, and is finally wound up on reel 5. A knock-off device 10 with connections 9 to the heaters 7 is provided to switch off the heaters should the core break. In a second embodiment instead of the finished tube being wound on a reel it is passed round a measuring wheel and cut to length.
