Connection is made from a braided conductor 10 to the surface of a semi-conductor device 6 by means of a silver connecting member 9 which consists of a central flat portion 9a spotwelded or soldered to the semi-conductor device and provided with bent-up finger portions 9b which are clamped by a ring 11 to a sleeve 10a rolled on to the end of the braided conductor. A ductile member may be provided between central portion 9a at the end of sleeve 10a to provide a further contact. When conductor 10 is rigid the fingers may be long enough to prevent mechanical stresses arising. A force storing device may be positioned between the end of the conductor and member 9a. In the particular embodiment described the semiconductor device 6 is of silicon with gold and gold-antimony electrodes. The device may be carried on an iron-nickel-cobalt alloy plate hard soldered to a copper plate 1 and a further copper base-plate 9. The device may be of germanium.
