PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the disadvantage such as the necessity of stopping rotation of a work piece to be bored with a means simple, having high reliability and easy to perform, facilitate radial work performed on a lathe, and increase the boring speed for heightening the efficiency of the lathe. SOLUTION: This radial boring device for the lathe 5 is adapted to bore a rotating workpiece 4 held by the lathe in the radial direction and provided with a boring means MP formed by at least one drill 2a, 2b held by a movable boring claw 3a, 3b in a cross section T orthogonal to the axis (XX') of rotation of the workpiece 4 to be bored. This device is provided with a main rotary assembly ERP for holding the boring means MP and rotating the boring means MP at the same speed as the rotating speed of the workpiece to be bored started by the lathe 5 around the longitudinal rotation axis XX' of the workpiece.
