PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining apparatus and machining method for a steel pipe end, capable of aligning the center of a steel pipe with the center of rotation of a cutter in the machining apparatus for the steel pipe end, in which the end of the steel pipe fixed by a reference side clamp and a pressure side clamp is machined by rotating the cutter. SOLUTION: The reference positions of the reference side clamps 3, 5 are previously computed from the diameter of the pipe 1 whose end is to be machined, and the optimum clamping force for pressurizing the pipe 1 not to be deformed is previously computed from the diameter and thickness of the pipe 1. The reference position correction values (misalignment amount) of the reference side clamps 3, 5 are computed by a graph or an empirical expression previously obtained from the optimum clamp force, and the above reference positions are corrected by the correction values. |
