PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pot agitator which recovers matter having dropped from an agitating impeller when pulling up the agitating impeller to the outside of the pot by a vertically moving cylinder and prevents the matter having dropped from the agitating impeller from entering into a pot having transported newly to an agitating and smoothing device. SOLUTION: The agitator is provided with the agitating impeller 5 for agitating the inside of a rice-cooking pot 3, a vertically moving means 6 for vertically moving the impeller 5 with respect to the pot 3, and a dropped matter recovering means 8 which recovers the matter having dropped from the impeller 5 by closing the opening face 3A of the pot 3 when pulling up the impeller 5 to the outside of the pot when agitating is finished by the vertically moving means 6.
