PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent printing from being not normal and reduce complicate processes for detecting an end of transmission data by effectively utilizing a common bus in a printer in which printing data is transferred from a memory to a video interface circuit via the common bus, and communication data from a host device is transferred to the memory via the same bus. SOLUTION: While printing data is being transferred to a video I/F 108, communication data from the host device 110 is burst transferred to a RAM 103 via a PCI bus 10. When the printing data is not transferred to the video I/F 108, the communication data is byte transferred to the RAM 103 via the PCI bus 10.
