PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new petri dish which is used for housing a culture medium therein and culturing bacteria, tissues, or the like, and can be discarded as a volume (size) of nearly 1/2 or 1/3 when the used petri dish is discharged to the outside of hospitals as a medical waste. SOLUTION: This petri dish comprises a petri dish body formed of a bottom part obtained by sheet forming of a transparent and colorless polyethylene terephthalate and a standing peripheral wall part continuously provided on the whole peripheral edge of the bottom, and a lid body for fitting to the petri dish formed of a ceiling part obtained by sheet forming of polyethylene terephthalate and a hanging down peripheral wall part continuously provided on the peripheral edge of the ceiling part.
