PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate material of the type using an image formable silver salt only by substantially drying and to provide a method for manufacturing a printing plate using such a printing plate material. SOLUTION: The printing plate material comprises a heat developable photosensitive layer containing an organic silver salt and a water soluble layer containing a water soluble material and a substantially water insoluble material sequentially provided in this order on a base.
