PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diamond dresser using a columnar diamond and having such structure that the columnar diamond is hardly broken and long service life. SOLUTION: The columnar diamond is held by a first holding layer and a second holding layer in the longitudinal direction, and the first holding layer and the second holding layer face mutually to hold the columnar diamond so as to nip it. As a method for manufacturing the diamond dresser using the columnar diamond, the columnar diamond is temporarily fixed on the first holding layer and is assembled in a mold. Next, metallic powders are filled on the first holding layer and the columnar diamond in the mold, and sintering is performed by pressurizing to manufacture a sintered body, which is used as a tip part of the dresser.
