PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coiling a plurality of metal strips in which a plurality of metal strips can be simultaneously coiled, and generation of bending traces attributable to the shape of an outer circumferential surface of a recoiler drum can be prevented, and a holding tool for coiling the metal strips. SOLUTION: The holding tool for coiling the metal strips is temporarily fitted to a recoiler drum 21 when starting the coiling operation by coiling a plurality of metal strips 23 around the recoiler drum 21. The tool further comprises a pressing member 28 for pressing and fixing a plurality of the metal strips 23, annular members 26 and 27, and a sleeve 34 for smoothing the circumferential surface of the recoiler drum 21. By coiling the metal strips by using the holding tool for coiling the metal strip, a plurality of the metal strips can be simultaneously coiled, and generation of any bending traces attributable to the shape of the outer circumferential surface of the recoiler drum can be prevented.
