1342967 Making centrifuges MESSERSCHMITT-BOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH 19 April 1971 [11 April 1970] 25248/71 Heading B3A A rotor has a thin-walled cylindrical casing 1 and at least one closure member 2, 3 secured in the bore of the casing, the closure member comprising a ring 3 affixed to the wall of the casing and a disc portion 2 closing the ring portion, the mating parts of the casing and ring portion being of the same thickness and modulus of elasticity, the parts being located away from the region of bending stress created by rotation of the rotor. The casing 1 and the closure member are made by cold-working, e.g. spinning, and is affixed to the casing by an adhesive. In the construction of gas centrifuges, the bore of a casing (5), Fig. 3 (not shown), is divided into chambers (6), by a number of closure members secured wholly inside the bore. |
