PURPOSE: A method for transmitting an E-mail using an abbreviated dialing in a mobile communication terminal is provided to selectively connect a telephone call, or write the E-mail and transmit the E-mail by displaying a menu composed as a telephone number corresponding to a selected abbreviated dialing number and an E-mail transmission. CONSTITUTION: A terminal user inputs an abbreviated dialing number using a key input unit of a mobile communication terminal for connecting a telephone call or transmitting an E-mail(S1). If the terminal user inputs an abbreviated dialing number in which an E-mail address of a recipient is stored for transmitting the E-mail, a control unit of the mobile communication terminal discriminates whether an abbreviated dialing setup of the mobile communication terminal is a telephone call connection/E-mail transmission(S2). A telephone call connection/E-mail transmission menu is displayed on an LCD of the mobile communication terminal(S3). The control unit discriminates whether the E-mail transmission menu is selected(S6). If the E-mail transmission menu is selected, a character input window is displayed on the LCD(S7). If the terminal user completes the input of characters in the character input window, the completed characters is transmitted an E-mail address of a recipient corresponding to the inputted abbreviated dialing number according to the selection of a send button of the terminal user(S8). If the E-mail transmission menu is not selected, the control unit discriminates whether a telephone call connection menu is selected(S9). If the telephone call connection menu is selected, the telephone call is connected to a representative telephone number set in a telephone number group of the terminal user corresponding to the inputted abbreviated dialing number(S10).
