PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error propagation suppressing circuit capable of preventing any cumulative error due to error diffusion from affecting a low gradation display part on a display screen. SOLUTION: This error propagation suppressing circuit suppresses the propagation of any cumulative error by temporarily stopping the functions of an error diffusion processing circuit for executing the pseudo-display of intermediate gradation at a display device by an error diffusion method. The circuit is provided with detecting circuits (5, 7) for detecting that gradation display parts equivalent to a black level are continued and an interrupting circuit (8) for stopping the error diffusion processing of the error diffusion processing circuit, when it is detected that the gradation display parts equivalent to the black level are continued by the detecting circuits.
