PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix type display device having a drawing speed capable of displaying a moving picture and being small in power consumption. SOLUTION: The active matrix type display device is switched by a selector 27 between the moving picture mode in which a data processing part 21 processes a video signal inputted at any time by a predetermined operation and displays the signal at any time, and the still picture mode in which a video signal is displayed based on video signals stored in a frame memory 25. Then, the display quality is improved without unsightly display at the time of switching between the modes by making the timing for switching from a still picture to a moving picture differ from that for switching from a moving picture to a still picture.
