PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery keeping high output for a long time. SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte lithium secondary battery has a negative electrode in which a negative mix layer containing a negative active material capable of inserting/releasing lithium ions is formed. The surface layer of graphite having an average particle size of 1.0 μm or less or carbon black is formed on the surface of the negative mix layer. Thereby, the movement of lithium ions is made smooth and stress on the surface of the negative electrode is lightened.
