PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a battery element with precision winding and to reduce defects. SOLUTION: First sensors 3, 3, etc., arranged on supply shafts 5, 6, 7, 8 sides of sheets 9, 10, 11, 12, and detecting the position of the edge of each sheet are installed, second sensors 4, 4, etc., arranged on a winding shaft 2 side and detecting the position of the edge of each sheet are installed. Before winding, the supply shaft of each sheet is arranged to the winding shaft in the position where an estimated displacement amount X between the position of the edge of a part each sheet taken out of the unwinding shaft and the position of the edge of a part of each sheet winding round the winding shaft is corrected. After starting to wind, the supply shaft is arranged to the winding shaft in the position where an actually measured displacement amount X' between the position of the edge of a part of each sheet on the supply shaft side detected with the first sensor and the position of the edge of a part of each sheet on the winding shaft side detected with the second sensor is replaced on occasion with the estimated displacement and corrected.
